POP BIZ Ltd History

POP BIZ Ltd. was a prominent independent music company based in Tokyo that operated from 1993 to 2008. Founded by musician and entrepreneur Sohrab Saadat Ladjevardi (also known as Sadato or SoSaLa), the company served as a major bridge for the import and distribution of international music in Japan.

DOO BEE FES

The two day world music festival DOO BEE FES (DBF) was the brainchild of Sadato who as a musician was a hard core world music fan, especially Persian Classical music, Arabic music, West African music, Flamenco, (Desert) Blues, Fado, Japanese classical music (especially Shakuhachi and Shamisen music) and modern jazz.

He partnered with Mr. Nambu who was the President of the Osaka tour agency SMASH Osaka who took care of the logistics, PR, artists’ VISA applications, hotel accommodations, artists contracts and payments,  the stages set up and backlines., etc..

The artists line up was: Warsawa Village Band (Poland), Kilema (Madagascar), OKI and Katoh-Bushi (Japan); and the Tehran Dakar Brothers (Iran)
