SoSaLa is Sohrab on sax and vocal, Damon Banks on Bass, Billy Ficca on drums and Alejandro Castellano on guitar. And guest appearance by Daniel Villeneuve on congas.
This is the first official concert of SoSaLa. Drom gave them the chance to try out their style of nu world trash. The band had only one reharsal. For Sohrab it was the first time he had a real rock drummer, Billy from TELEVISION, in the band. So Sohrab expected the band to play a different kind of rhythm and dynamics. What do you think?
The music in the video below is totally improvised. The idea was to let the band warm up and let the sound man do his sound check job.
Reg. the members: for Billy it was the first time to play in Sohrab’s band. Damon was in the band 2 ½ years ago when Sohrab performed with The Tehran-Dakar Brothers at The Stone for the first time in NY. Sohrab met and played with Daniel, who just came to see SoSaLa’s show, in an African Band called SOURCE two years ago. Alejandro, as you know, has been Sohrab’s regular guitarist.
